Jorge Villaverde, General Manager, Anaheim, California
Jorge Villaverde served in the U.S. Army as a military police officer. From 1984 to1989, he was a Deputy Sheriff in Southern California. Always looking for a new challenge, Jorge moved to Florida and started his own business in Miami.
In 1992, Jorge decided to join G4S as a Custom Protection Officer. This was a perfect chance to use the skills he learned in the Army and during his time as a Sheriff’s Deputy.
One of the advantages of working for G4S is that it is a nationwide company. When Jorge decided to move back to California, he had a job waiting for him. Jorge was promoted right away and became a Site Supervisor for a large client.
In 2000, Jorge was promoted once again to become the Project Manager for a film developing company’s manufacturing plant. He was responsible for daily operations and all of the client’s security needs. Jorge was recognized for his dedication as a Project manager, and in 2002 he was promoted to Manager of Physical Security at the San Fernando, California, office. In 2009, he was promoted to General Manager for the Anaheim office.
Jorge has received a series of awards in the last couple of years, most recently the General Manager of the Year award in 2011.
“G4S provides lots of great opportunities, it’s a great place to get your foot in the door, and move up,” he said. As a manager, Jorge looks to promote from within and believes in developing the talent of those around him.
The best advice that Jorge can give to anybody who wants to work for G4S is to be patient, do the best you can in the position you are, sometimes the work at G4S can be tough. G4S is a company that recognizes the talent of its people and rewards them with more challenging roles.
Jorge likes G4S because it provides a lot of tools and training to achieve your goals. “G4S is just a cut above from all the rest.”
