Marisela Gomes, Assistant Project Manager, Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Marisela was in the Army as a military police officer for six years on both active duty and as a reservist. While in the Army she heard of G4S and applied for a position in private security.
“The transition was very easy, it felt like going to a civilian role while still in the military,” she said. While working for G4S she was deployed, and after coming back from Afghanistan she was able to return to work without any issues affecting her role or her pay.
Marisela says she would recommend G4S to other military veterans because the standards for G4S and for the military are almost identical. “They follow everything to the letter, and they work with you to give you some flexibility when you need it.” she said.
Marisela has been with G4S for 12 years, starting as a security officer for a large commercial building. From there she became a supervisor at one of our clients in the healthcare industry in Pembroke Pines. After her deployment, she came back to a different hospital in Hollywood, Florida, where she was in charge of the security control room until 2005.
She wanted to relocate to North Carolina, and after applying for an open position in our Greensborough office, she started working for a large manufacturing plant as a medical responder monitoring fire protection systems. In November of 2011 she was promoted to Assistant Project Manager for this account.
As the Assistant Project Manager, Marisela is responsible for equipment, vehicles, documentation, scheduling, payroll and administrative support.
Her best advice for people looking to be successful with G4S is to follow all policies and procedures, and come to work every day ready to perform and to keep a positive attitude.
Her future plans are to continue moving forward, getting her degree in business management and looking for any management openings in the future.
