Job Introduction:

The incumbent will represent the company in subcontractor pre-bid, pre-construction and in-progress negotiations and is the customer interface on any construction-related meetings or items and any initial permitting contracts.  Will effectively schedule the work and assign tasks to team members based on team member’s skills, competencies, and experience in order to meet or exceed the assigned tasking and provide professional development.  The incumbent will manage multiple sites and locations through the supervision of Project Superintendents and Superintendents.

Role Responsibility:

  • Interprets architectural, engineering, utility -right-of-way and grid maps, underground utility records, and railroad validation maps and drawings, and makes recommendations for placing system running lines and/or equipment.
  • Understands, participates in and directs the engineering, permitting and construction processes in order to support the requirements of the project contract and coordinates a team effort.  Communicates effectively to direct reports the permitting requirements and issues to be resolved.
  • Provides guidance and proper instructions to project personnel for planning, scheduling, and close out of projects.  Ensures documentation is properly prepared for subsequent turnover to the owner.
  • Conducts site surveys and threat assessments and generates associated reports, drawings, schedules and cost estimates.
  • Actively participates in scheduling and building access meetings (intra-company) and meetings with municipalities and governmental permitting officials to coordinate and manage the project schedule.
  • Using company accounting techniques, maintains supervision over requisitioning of permanent materials and subcontracting for labor in order to remain within budget constraints, as well as accounting for own and subcontractor’s work at any phase of construction or installation.
  • Understands the policies, procedures, standards, and goals of the organization and directs the execution of all aspects of engineering, permitting, construction, and final acceptance with those in mind.
  • Represents the company in pre-bid, pre-construction and subcontractor negotiations, and is the customer interface on any construction-related meetings or items and any initial permitting contracts.
  • Serves as liaison between project personnel and customer for technical support and Engineering Change Proposals.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or GED equivalency plus three to five years of supervisory field construction with two to four years of security systems integration experience.  A BS degree in construction management or engineering is desired.  Experience must include field engineering management responsibility and/or project oversight responsibility.  Experience in dealing with Department of Defense personnel preferred.  Employees should also be adept in the use of the following or similar systems: Monitor Dynamics Inc., Vindicator Technologies, Software House, Hirsch Electronics, Radionics, Lenel, J-SIIDS, Pelco CCTV, and Philips CCTV.  Past supervisory and force protection experience is a major plus.  An acceptable and equivalent combination of collegiate education and experience will be considered.  Successful candidates must be able to pass drug screening, possess a valid driver’s license, be able to obtain and maintain a valid US passport.  Domestic US and overseas travel will be required.

A U.S. Department of Defense secret level clearance will likely be required by the incumbent if the department or work location deals with security installation work.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction contracts, engineering and construction drawings and specifications, common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and other documents.  Communicates effectively in both oral and written English technical language, both in interpreting requirements and providing reports and mentoring.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit; use hand and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The incumbent is required to travel to local and remote sites, walk daily on construction sites in rough terrain, and climb ladders and facilities under construction.  The incumbent is occasionally required to stand for long periods of time.  The incumbent may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.  And occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent regularly splits time between work in a semi-quiet construction office environment and on construction sites, where there is moderate to occasional great noise levels.  Some travel will be required.
