As a Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for directing and developing sourcing and procurement activities while serving as the leader for the purchasing of direct and indirect supplies, capital goods and services.  This position facilitates the acquisition of material needed to build the end products designed by the Technical and Engineering departments, as well as directs the shipping and receiving activities.  The position focuses on supply chain management with an emphasis on cost and lead-time reduction.  This position also directs the outgoing shipping of all items including single components and full security systems.  This role strives to continuously improve the procurement process to ensure strategic coordination for sourcing initiatives and supplier management.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Directing supply chain management: Ensures the execution of all procurement strategies; including financial analyses, supplier management, contract management, strategic sourcing, standardized procurement tools and leading-edge reporting; developing best shipping practices; maintaining inventory; ordering freight pickup, generating Bill of Lading
  • Management of department staff: Provide supervision and direct the workflow of Procurement Specialist and Warehouse Coordinator
  • Sourcing for new material: Establish relationships with new vendors; create and communicate supplier metrics to improve service at reduced costs
  • Assist in proposals: Monthly and quarterly reporting to clients; collaborate with and assist marketing and sales on bids with diversity requirements

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • College degree in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Business, or a related degree

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • 5 years of procurement/logistics experience involving the preparation of purchase orders and shipping and receiving
  • Work history demonstrating skills in market research and financial business acumen

Skills Required

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail


  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of the rules, regulations, terminology, etc. of procurement administration
  • Must submit to a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Environment:        Office; minimal to no exposure to extreme temperatures

Major activity:       Working at a computer while sitting; speaking on telephone
