The G4S Safety and Security Manager is the safety and security authority at the client site. This person serves as the onsite G4S safety and security advisor to client management for all matters relating to the protection of client's company and customer assets, as well as the safety of all associates and visitors to the facility. The G4S Safety and Security Manager is a key leadership position reporting to the Regional Safety and Security Manager. The position is responsible for the direct oversight, supervision, and management of personnel, programs, corporate policies, environmental, health, safety, security, and emergency response operations. In addition, the Security Control Center Manager works in concert with the Regional Safety and Security Manager to drive the Safety and Security Mission, Purpose & Measurable Success Criteria and takes the lead in accomplishing safety and security goals and objectives.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Leadership: Directly supervise, manage and lead all Safety and Security staff in their performance of security operations and environmental health and safety tasks while utilizing sound judgment in day-to-day execution; regular interaction with senior and junior leadership within the Safety and Security organizational structure and client organization to ensure compliance with client's Safety and Security policies
  • Human Resources: Interface regularly with senior on-site leadership to ensure a proactive approach to accomplishing the safety and security of employees and assets; manage timekeeping, scheduling and deployment of staff to ensure vacant positions are filled, full coverage of assigned post(s) are met, staff vacation and sick leave are tracked and managed; coordinate and seek approval for travel assignments as needed; manage training requirements for staff, manage out non-performing staff and recruit and hire replacements
  • Operations: Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff, ensure mandatory, general and client-specific training is conducted and the highest level of competency maintained; understand fundamental concepts of Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Emergency Response and the Incident Command system; ensure the accurate reporting and recording of all incidents and issues, especially anomalies
  • Training: Ensures each new employee understands their role in providing a safe and secure environment; establish a mentor program to train junior leaders in positions of increased responsibility and when needed
  • Safety: Administer G4S Safety Program; semi-annual review and revise the security Emergency Response plan; participate, lead and maintain local emergency action plans; manage site level emergency programs including; maintaining required documentation and administration of Emergency Response and Building Evacuation Teams (ERT & BET); establish working relationships with outside community stakeholders including law enforcement and local fire departments; promote the global employee health and safety program to ensure assigned locations conform to government safety and health regulations including the proper reporting of injuries, illness and safety hazards
  • Liaise: Primary liaison between G4S Secure Solutions USA and client senior management; Participate in meetings and partner with client representatives to ensure proper utilization and execution of contract security programs
  • Budget: Provide budgetary inputs and assist the Regional Safety and Security Manager in the efficient management of allocated site budget

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all necessary state or federal licensing requirements

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Minimum of 3 years of security, safety, or law enforcement experience in a supervisory or management capacity
  • Work history to include demonstrated knowledge of security and safety inspections and electronic security systems
  • Prior work experience implementing safety and security measures in response to identifiable hazards, preferably in a corporate environment
  • Must have one or more of the following:
    • Minimum of one year verifiable and successful supervisory experience in security-related industry
    • Service in the active duty military, military reserves, or National Guard
    • Service in Auxiliary Police or Police Cadets
    • Associate's degree or higher in any discipline

Other

  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Knowledge of the operation of basic physical security systems, such as CCTV, video, alarm systems, access control, radio and telephone equipment, smart phones, and fire life safety
  • Ability to interface with people at all levels with the client
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written, oral and problem solving skills
  • Must not use illegal drugs. Must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment).
  • Must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment: Office; minimal to no work in extreme temperatures is expected

Major activity: Working on PC while sitting; telephone use

Physical efforts to carry out job duties: Limited, to include some standing, bending, limited stretching and reaching.
