As a Dispatcher, your primary responsibility will be to acknowledge and dispatch for alarms by using state of the art situation management software. You will also take incident reports over the telephone, conduct preliminary investigations on reports, handle access control issues for an entire corporation, maintain compliance of regulated locations, and immediately report violations to management. This high energy position must be able to multi-task and perform computer data entry while callers are on the phone.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Alarm monitoring and response; sound alarms or call police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons
  • Access control; permits authorized persons to enter property and monitors entrances and exits
  • Customer service; provide assistance to customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
  • Report writing; investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintains written logs as required by the post

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Ability to meet and maintain any applicable State licensing or certification requirements
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)
  • Must possess a current and valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to pass applicable Safety Council training class(es)

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a dispatcher in law enforcement, 911 call center, alarm response center, or similar environment
  • Must possess one or more of the following:
    • Associate's degree or higher in any discipline
    • Service in the active duty military, military reserves or National Guard
    • Service in auxiliary police or police cadets
    • Meaningful and verifiable work history
    • Minimum of one year verifiable and successful security experience

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail

Other

  • Must be at least 21 years old or the minimum age required by the State, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must not use illegal drugs. Must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment).
  • Must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military
  • Upon acceptance of a job offer, must be able to pass the following:
    • MMPI - Psychological testing
    • Physical exam

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment: Office, minimal to no exposure to extreme temperatures is expected

Major activity: Working on PC and using telephone/radio while sitting

Physical efforts to carry out job duties: Limited, to include some standing, bending, light lifting, and limited stretching and reaching.
