Job Introduction:


The world's leading private security organization, G4S, has an immediate job opportunity for an Emergency Responder. As an Emergency Responder, you will act as the company liaison with the client, G4S management, law enforcement agencies, customers, and employees.  This position applies intensive and diversified knowledge of Fire, Medical, and Security.  The Emergency Responder is responsible for providing assistance during fire, medical, hazardous material, and security related incidents as well as performing inspections on fire protection and security related equipment.  The Emergency Responder must demonstrate the ability to take control and direct emergency situations until relieved by a higher trained person, work effectively with individuals throughout the company, develop, and maintain above average knowledge of the facilities and facility management and work effectively with local government emergency services personnel and agencies.  The Emergency Responder must also possess the necessary job skills to work from schedules, maps, and verbal instructions and be capable of planning, organizing, and supervising G4S services.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Respond to medical emergencies, assess the situation, and provide first aid
  • Respond to smoke and burglar alarms in a timely manner and provide immediate confirmation
  • Respond to fire safety equipment alarms, ascertain the cause and take the appropriate action to include service and reset alarms when necessary
  • Respond to and investigate security related activity and report to the appropriate person or agency
  • Perform weekly and monthly inspections of water valves, fire pumps, and fire extinguishers
  • Assist security personnel as needed

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a current and valid North Carolina Driver’s License
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain, a current and valid North Carolina Medical Responder Certification
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain, a North Carolina Private Protective Services Board security license

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must have one (1) year minimum experience in one or more of the following:
  • Industrial Security in a manufacturing facility
  • Firefighting – civilian or military
  • Law Enforcement – civilian or military
  • Emergency Medical Technician – civilian or military

Skills Required

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail


  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules
  • Must have working knowledge and conceptual understanding of industrial, mechanical equipment such as fire extinguisher, water pressure valves, etc.
  • Post offer, must be able to pass training on the following:
    • Confined Space Entry Supervisor
    • Certified Hazardous Material
    • Incipient Level Fire Training in accordance with National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 600 -
    • Basic Incident Command
    • Fork-Lifts, Lift-A-Lofts, and Genie Booms
  • Must submit to a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:  Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat

Major activity:  Walking, standing, speaking, listening, observing

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:  Standing, walking, and sitting; minimal stooping and kneeling, maneuvering up to 50 pounds
