The world's leading private security organization, G4S, has an immediate job opportunity for a Shift Supervisor. As a Shift Supervisor, you will work on special project coverage requests as needed, ensure all supplier personnel understand and fulfill their duties and responsibilities, provide a positive image for G4S, the property and supplier, and be thoroughly familiar with  premises and all monitoring equipment ensuring that all issues are reported appropriately to supervisory and/or management staff.  This position will ensure that all fire and security alarms are responded appropriately, applicable documentation and reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner, respond to all emergencies and provide direction as appropriate, and enforce all  regulations and security policies.  The Shift Supervisor will ensure all posts are filled, contact and coordinate with local agencies, respond to all emergencies, and act as interface for security services.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Ensure all shifts are filled
  • Notify management staff of all incidents (staffing, disciplinary, etc.)
  • Assist with training supplier employees on all assignments
  • Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle
  • Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards
  • Sound alarms or calls police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons
  • Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles
  • Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitors entrances and exits
  • Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure that authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate client requirements
  • Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required by the post
  • Provide assistance to customers, employees and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
  • Assist in submitting officer timesheets to branch office in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisory and/or management staff

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must posses a current and valid California Driver’s License
  • Pass any State-required training or other qualifications for licensing 
  • Must possess a current and valid Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) Security Officer License issued by the State of California

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • A minimum of three (3) years of security or law enforcement experience
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a leadership/supervisory/management role
  • Demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
  • Previous Security experience in a technology campus environment

Skills Required

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Attention to detail

Other

  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules
  • Must not use illegal drugs. Must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment).
  • Must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:  Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat

Major activity:  Walking, standing, speaking, listening, observing

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:  Standing, walking, and sitting.  Minimal to no stooping or kneeling.
