As a Verification Specialist, you will provide background services for clients who are seeking to screen potential candidates for employment. The Verification Specialist contacts former employers, references and education institutions to verify activity history and suitability for employment. The Verification Specialist interacts with information sources online and via telephone, fax, and/or email. The results are collected into a report, analyzed for discrepancies or derogatory information, and delivered to our clients.

Role Responsibility:

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Conduct phone, fax, and email interviews with past employers, educational institutions, and references in order to verify information provided by a potential candidate
  • Effectively and persuasively communicate via phone, fax, email
  • Enter results of interviews into electronic database
  • Knowledge and understanding of Windows based computers
  • Research and develop contact information to identify appropriate sources when not provided by the candidate
  • Ensure quality of documented interviews and provide testimony of reported information, if necessary
  • Review G4S policies on conducting background investigations
  • Gather additional information from candidates when applications are incomplete
  • Meet G4S Background Screening department production requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

The Ideal Candidate:

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required

  • Must possess prior work or educational experience demonstrating each of the following:
    • Possesses strong internet research skills
    • Proficient reading comprehension and writing skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and internet information sources

  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the state, if higher
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
  • Must submit to a pre-employment drug test
  • Must submit to an extensive background check, including history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable
  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

Physical Requirements and Environment

Environment:  Office; minimal to no exposure to extreme temperatures is expected

Major or special activity:  Working on PC while sitting; telephone use

Physical efforts to carry out job duties:  Limited, to include some standing, bending, limited stretching and reaching
